Hello and welcome to my book blog!

Books, coffee and a plate of cookies on a sunlit table.

If you’re reading this, you’re probably a book lover. So am I. I adore books, both as a reader and as an author.

My relationship with stories started when I was a young child crafting stories in my head. In fact, I often tagged along on any errand I could so I’d have more time to sit in the car and listen to music while my mind went to work. I did some of my best mental wandering to the soundtrack of the car radio. While my mother sometimes mistook this for clinginess, I was literally after the journey, not the destination.

While I write in two different genres, cozy mysteries (cozy thrillers, really) under the name Camille Sharp and fantasy romance as Chloe Fenwood, I talk a lot about other people’s books here. Mine make their appearances and get regular mentions, of course, but I like exploring a lot of different stories, not just mine.

Telling and consuming stories

I like to share tips and observations that I’ve gleaned along the way as a reader and an author. They are two unique perspectives but they’re intrinsically linked. So, whether you are in the process of writing a book, or simply love reading, there’s plenty to pick apart and have fun with.

Being an independent publisher adds another layer to the experience. While it brings some unique challenges, it also provides a lot of freedom. Writing can be a challenging endeavor, but it’s incredibly rewarding. There is nothing quite like the feeling of looking over a book that you’ve spent weeks, months, maybe years creating. That moment when you know it’s finally finished and ready to be shared. The sense of accomplishment, pride and creative expression is blissful.

The joy of curling up with a book

We are all constantly growing, whether we realize it or not, and one of the ways we grow is by talking and sharing what we know and what we’ve been through.

One of the reasons that I write stories is that I have stories to tell. And I want to share them with anyone that wants to listen. It’s similar with this blog. This is my little sliver of the internet where I can share thoughts and experiences, not only with readers that might be interested in the worlds I build, or the books I’ve found, but also with fellow authors.

Our backgrounds shape us. Whether it’s in the form of joys, triumphs, losses or traumas that we’re trying to survive and overcome. These elements influence the books we choose to read, but they also dance through our writing, giving it depth and dimension.

I discuss everything from tropes and genres I love (or hate) as a reader all the way through topics such as writing goals, writer’s block and mistakes to avoid.

Come along, all you who love books, and please feel free to share opinions and book recommendations. This space is dedicated to the sublime and unabashedly bookish!
